About

Westmont Montessori School is a local community minded independent school committed to academic excellence in a caring, learning environment. Our family oriented learning environment takes an individual approach to learning where students are challenged to be the best they can be from early primary through to their middle years. At the heart of the Montessori philosophy is the belief that each person is a unique individual with strengths to contribute to society. It is a method designed to engage a child’s natural curiosity within an environment that is specially prepared to maximize learning opportunities.

Mission and Values

Our vision is of a school
that provides world class
Montessori education
now and for generations
to come.

To this end, the school community follows these guiding principles:

  • Children come first
  • Values are important
  • Our learning environment has no walls
  • We work as a team
At Westmont, we believe that the strength of an education is forged from a bond between the student, the teacher and the home. Each partner must be committed to building a foundation of trust from which the child dreams, questions and works to become all that is possible.

Our Logo

Not only does the wave symbolize constant movement and fluidity it is also very powerful and forceful and can symbolize direction and ambition. Westmont is privileged to sit on the edge of a beautiful lagoon where the students can directly observe and interact with nature. The sea locates us in Metchosin, BC and the Pacific Northwest. A cresting wave looks to be unfurling, probing and learning, and always regenerating. Riding the crest of a wave is to be very successful during a period of time, like your time at Westmont.
This is not a traditional shape for a crest. It is rounded and therefore evokes flexibility. It is also modern, future-oriented, and a little technical / sporty. Having a crest allows us to connect with other independent educational institutions, however the way that it is rendered makes sure that we don’t appear stuffy and unapproachable.

Together the wave and the crest symbolize the future strength of Westmont – highly evolved, high-achieving and of high worth.

School PAC

The School Act gives parents the right, through PACs, to assume an advisory role in every school. PAC is the officially recognized collective voice of parents of their school. PACs are forums within each school community to discuss matters affecting your school and the education of your children. Parents’ voices are a tremendous value to their school. They offer a wealth of ideas and support in the challenges that face all public schools. PACs strive to represent the diversity within their communities and contribute to the benefit of all students by: providing opportunities to educate and inform parents about the school; involving parents in volunteer activities; and openly discussing parents' concerns and aspirations for their schools.

If you'd like more info on Westmont’s PAC, please send us an email below, and we'll get back to you.
